Statement to Public Opinion
We, in the Syrian Homeland Party, and stemming from our deep belief in the unity of Syria—land and people—and our awareness of the historical and political challenges facing our country, and out of our keenness to embody the aspirations of Syrians of all their components and spectrums in building a just state capable of embracing diversity, we call for the consolidation of consensus to shape the features of the new Syria.
The unity of Syria is a firm principle that does not accept compromise in the conscience of the entire Syrian people. Pluralism and decentralization are the shield that protects this principle. No matter the differences in viewpoints among Syrians, this does not indicate a division that could undermine the negotiation path between the Autonomous Administration and the Transitional Government, but rather reflects a state of political maturity that prioritizes the interests of Syrians above all narrow considerations.
While we warn against pursuing exclusionary centralism that has marginalized the peripheries and excluded components for decades, we support a change in the system of governance after the fall of the regime, and a transition towards decentralization within a unified state framework, sovereign, preserving dignity and rights, and guaranteeing equality among all its citizens.
Therefore, we stress the importance of consensus among negotiating delegations to fulfill the aspirations of Syrians as follows:
1. The necessity of building upon the March 10 agreement between Mr. Farouk Al-Sharaa and Mr. Mazloum Abdi as a foundation for guiding Syria to safety.
2. Avoiding inflammatory political and media rhetoric and supporting the negotiation path to proceed in its true and proper course, prioritizing the national interest and rising above the narrowness of the current political moment.
3. Showing sufficient flexibility during negotiations to achieve the aspirations of Syrians in building their modern state—a state worthy of the sacrifices made.
4. Forming a government that represents all spectrums of the Syrian people across all their segments and orientations.
5. Adopting the political process as the sole path to resolving the outstanding issues among Syrians.
We, in the Syrian Homeland Party, have full confidence in the ability of Syrians to stop the bloodshed and to build a united, pluralistic Syria that meets the people’s aspirations. We believe that Syria can only be rebuilt through the efforts of its own sons and daughters, and upon the will to live that has not been broken despite all the wounds.
